Joba Chamberlain Set to Return
The New York Yankees have activated
releiver Joba Chamberlain before Tuesdays game with the Baltimore
Orioles.
The Yankees traded Chad Qualls for
Casey McGehee at the trade deadline with the intention of bring Joba
back to fill his spot in the bullpen. Joba hasnt pitched in the
majors since June of 2011 due to various injuries. Chamberlain since
then has had Thommy John surgery, an appendectomy, dislocated ankle,
and torn MCL.
Chamberlain has been very good in the
rehab appearances going nine and a third innings with only a 0.96 ERA
in seven appearances. Joba has been lighting up the radar gun in the
minors and will be looking to duplicate his great pitching from the
2007 playoff run.
